GENERAL INFORMATION

Q: Where is Yak N Sup located?

A: Yak N Sup is located at Canyon Lake Marina, Arizona. The address is 16802 AZ-88, Apache Junction, AZ 85119.

Q: Do I need a Tonto Parking Pass?
A: No, the Canyon Lake Marina is private property. A reservation with Yak N Sup covers parking for one vehicle. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.

Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We open at 8:00 AM. The last two-hour rental goes out at 3:30 PM, and we close at 5:30 PM. All rentals must be returned by 5:30 PM.

Q: Are you on the water or do we have to transport the rentals?
A: We are on the water by the marina boat ramp, inside the floating gas dock. All rentals launch directly from our dock, and transportation of Yak N Sup rentals is prohibited.

Q: Can we transport your kayaks and paddleboards?
A: No, transportation of our rentals is prohibited. All rentals must be launched from our dock.

Q: Is there cell service at Canyon Lake?
A: Cell service is limited. Please make plans with your group before arriving.

Q: Are life jackets included? Are they required?

A: Yes, life jackets are included and must be worn at all times while using Yak N Sup equipment.

Q: Can I bring friends who have their own equipment?
A: Yes, your friends can join if they carpool with you, as your reservation covers parking for one vehicle. Larger parties can meet at Boulder Recreation Site, a 5-minute paddle from the Yak N Sup dock.

Q: Can I kayak or paddleboard with no experience?
A: Yes, no experience is needed. We recommend starting in the non-motorized Boulder Recreation Site. Guided tours and lessons are also available.

Q: Is the time I select for my rental my arrival time, or do I need to arrive 15 minutes in advance?
A: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled rental time to complete the check-in process.

Q: How do I select the right rental duration?
A: For a relaxing paddle, 2 to 3 hours is ideal. For more exploration, consider a longer rental. Base your decision on your comfort level and the weather conditions.

Q: What is your cancellation and refund policy?
A: Cancellations made 24 hours in advance are eligible for a raincheck (store credit). Customers who purchase Peek Pro Protect can initiate a cancellation through their customer portal 24 hours before the start time for an 80% refund.

Q: Do you rent overnight for camping at Canyon Lake?
A: Yes, overnight rentals are available for Marina Members, Campground Guests, and those camping at “The Point” (Beer Can). All rentals must remain at Canyon Lake, and transportation is prohibited.

Q: What happens if I break or lose my rental equipment?

A: You are responsible for the repair or replacement costs of any broken or lost equipment. Please handle all equipment with care.

Q: Is there room for a cooler?
A: Yes, our Perception sit-on-top kayaks and Redline paddleboards have space to secure a cooler under elastics. We recommend bringing carabiners for extra security.

Q: What should I bring with me?
A: Bring water (12 oz per hour per person in summer), appropriate clothing, sunscreen (apply in the parking lot), snacks, and anything else needed to stay comfortable.

Q: Do you have lockers for personal belongings?
A: We do not have lockers, but you can rent a dry bag for $10. We recommend leaving valuables in your vehicle.

Q: Who needs to complete a waiver?
A: Anyone using Yak N Sup rental equipment must complete a waiver. Waivers for minors must be signed by a responsible adult. Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: How do I get in and out of the kayak or paddleboard?
A: Our staff will assist you at the launcher and guide you on how to safely get in and out of your kayak or paddleboard.

Q: What do I need to paddle after dark safely at Canyon Lake?
A: You’ll need a headlamp or other waterproof lighting. For night paddles, we offer glow packs to help light your way.

Q: Will I get wet?
A: Yes, kayaking and paddleboarding are water sports, and getting wet is likely. Please wear appropriate clothing.

Q: What is appropriate clothing for kayaking and paddleboarding?
A: Wear quick-drying, weather-appropriate clothing. Avoid cotton and choose synthetic fabrics like nylon or polyester. Sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen) and water-friendly shoes are recommended.

Q: What kind of fish are at Canyon Lake?
A: Canyon Lake is home to largemouth bass, yellow bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish.

Q: Where can I top-water fish?
A: The best spots for top-water fishing are Tortilla Creek and LaBarge Cove, both accessible from the Yak N Sup dock.

Q: What kind of animals might I see on the water?
A: You may spot bighorn sheep, bald eagles, ospreys, waterfowl, and occasionally deer and coyotes.

Q: What should I do if a storm comes in while I’m on the water?
A: Head to shore immediately and wait until the storm passes. Avoid open water and seek shelter.

Q: Is the water safe for people and pets to swim in?
A: Yes, Canyon Lake water is safe for swimming, but always supervise pets and children near the water.

 

Q: Are there alligators in Canyon Lake?
A: No, there are no alligators in Canyon Lake.

Family pet's and group activities

 Can my dog come with me?
A: Yes, dogs are welcome! You must bring a properly fitting doggy life jacket.

Q: Is it better to kayak or paddleboard with my dog for the first time?
A: For dogs 15 lbs or under, either a kayak or paddleboard is fine. For larger dogs, we recommend paddleboards, as they provide more space and stability.

Q: Are kids allowed to paddle on their own? What ages?
A: Kids aged 10 and older can paddle on their own, but minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: What is the best place to paddle with kids?
A: Boulder Recreation Site is ideal for families, as it’s a calm, non-motorized area.

Q: Where is it best to meet friends who aren’t renting?
A: Boulder Recreation Site is the best place to meet friends with their own equipment. They will need a Tonto Day Pass to park.
