Our favorite lake day in North Texas has two steps: paddle Lewisville Lake from Hidden Cove Marina, then walk up to Shady's for a burger and something frozen. Here's how to plan it.
Step 1: Get on the water
Rent a kayak or paddleboard from Yak N Sup at Hidden Cove Marina in Frisco. Kayaks and paddleboards start at $35, and no experience is needed. Life jackets and a quick lesson are included. Paddle the quiet coves along the park shoreline or head out toward the open lake.
Step 2: Eat at Shady's
Shady's Burgers & Brewhaha is right at Hidden Cove Marina, so dinner is a short walk from where you return your boat. The menu is built for a hungry paddler: double smash burgers with grilled onions and American cheese, tacos, wraps and salads, plus cold beer and frozen cocktails. You can reach it by car or by boat.
Make it a whole day
- Time your rental for late afternoon and you'll eat right around sunset.
- Hidden Cove Park has camping, cabins and RV sites if you want to stay the night.
- The park charges $20 per vehicle at the gate, so bring friends and split it.
