Out on the lake there's nothing between you and the horizon. The sky reflects on the water, so the colors show up twice. It's quiet and the air cools off. A kayak or paddleboard puts you right in the middle of it.

How to catch a sunset at Hidden Cove

• Book a rental that ends around sunset so you're on the water for golden hour.
• Paddle out from Hidden Cove Marina toward open water for the widest view.
• Bring a waterproof phone case. You'll want photos.

Then dinner by the lake

After the sun goes down, walk up to Shady's at Hidden Cove Marina for smash burgers and frozen drinks. It's the easiest date night or friends' night out in Frisco.
